Rhythm Patterns

Purpose: Learn to recognize a melody from its notation. Like the Pitch Patterns exercise, this resembles some questions found in advanced placement exams.

Difficulty: moderate - somewhat easier than the Pitch Pattern exercise since rhythm patterns may be easier to see.

How it works:

You'll see four brief melodies. They are closely related but the rhythm is slightly varied in each. One of variants will be played. Which was it? Press the play button to hear the melody as many times as you like. Enter your answer by touching the box A, B, C, or D.

If you choose the wrong one, you'll have a chance to hear both your choice and the right one for comparison.

As with most of these exercises the melodies are invented anew each time you run the program, so they are not predictable.
